This is brilliant. My mind immediately jumped to the scientific research going on nowadays - we are so committed to our maps that we have almost thrown out the idea that the territory could be truly different.
I wonder if by shrugging off the idea of a transcendent divine, we've somehow locked ourselves into our frames of science by way of compensation. Perhaps it's more difficult to imagine a different paradigm if we don't have an ideal beyond all current paradigms.
