I see that you are familiar with the passive principles and you definitely maxed out the ventilation patterns. Curious to what other patterns did you consider.

Yes, the porch would be solely on the western side. It's still possible to build one, but we have no plans right now.
We didn't look too carefully into other passive house approaches merely because the time between conception and building approval/breaking ground was so short (just a few months). If I could do it over again, I would have spent at least a year planning. But then again, it turned out 2018 was a relatively inexpensive year to build a house...
